THE INFLUENCE OF DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN UZBEKISTAN
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper examines the influence of demographic changes on economic growth in Uzbekistan, a country experiencing significant shifts in its population structure due to urbanization, aging, and youth migration. As demographic trends evolve, understanding their implications for economic performance becomes crucial for policymakers and stakeholders. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative data analysis of economic indicators and demographic trends with qualitative insights from interviews with economists, policymakers, and social scientists. The findings reveal that demographic changes, particularly the growth of the working-age population, have the potential to drive economic growth by increasing labor supply and productivity. Additionally, urbanization trends are contributing to the concentration of economic activities, fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. However, challenges such as youth unemployment, inadequate education and training, and regional disparities must be addressed to fully harness the benefits of demographic changes. The paper concludes with recommendations for policymakers to develop targeted strategies that leverage demographic trends for sustainable economic growth, ensuring that Uzbekistan can effectively navigate the opportunities and challenges posed by its evolving population dynamics.
