COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CYBERSECURITY TERMINOLOGY IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK, LEXICAL AND SEMANTIC CHALLENGES

This article describes the issues based on analyzing the lexical and semantic challenges encountered in the translation and adaptation of cybersecurity terminology from English into Uzbek. As cybersecurity is a rapidly evolving field, its terminological base in English is vast, while its equivalent expressions in Uzbek are still emerging and often lack standardization. Through comparative linguistic analysis, this study identifies common issues such as lexical gaps, semantic mismatches, borrowing, and calquing. The paper also evaluates the role of bilingual dictionaries and professional glossaries in addressing these challenges. The findings reveal that most Uzbek equivalents are either loaned or partially adapted, underscoring the need for targeted lexicographic work and standardization efforts to ensure clarity and consistency in cybersecurity discourse.
